• 2024-25 Pre-Season Meeting:

    The preseason meeting:  Tuesday, November 5th at 3 PM in Room 90

    There will be a pre-season meeting for any girl who is interested in trying out for this years team.  All grades will try out on Friday, November 15th and Saturday, November 16th.  If you can not make the meeting, please email coach Nick Liberio at nliberio@upperdarbysd.org

     

     

    Pre-Season Voluntary Workouts:

    2024 Pre-Season workouts are being held Tuesday & Thursday nights from 6:00 - 8:) PM in the main gym. 

    Any girl attending Upper Darby High School and who is an incoming freshman and is interested in participating are welcome.   Open Gym Workouts consist of skill set drills as well as game play to help players prepare for team tryouts which will be held in November 2024.  Girls who are interested in trying out are encouraged to participate.

     

    All participants should check this web page prior to any open gym to ensure that there are changes in schedule and or cancelations.  Since there are multiple teams using our facilities, schedule changes and cancelations may be needed. 

    Key Items:

    • All participants will be required to adhere to the following:
      • All participants should enter the gym using the main gym entrance. 
      • Locker rooms will not be available during open gym workouts. (Bathroom will be open but girls may not gather)
      • Must bring their own water bottle with their name clearly marked on it.  (Sharing of water/ water bottles is prohibited)
      • All workouts will be drill based to grow fundamental skills and no scrimmaging will be allowed.
      • Cleaning kits and hand sanitizer will be made available to all participants.  Please use as much as you would like!

    2024-25 Tryout Information:

     

    Tryouts Dates: Friday, November 15th & Saturday, November 16th, 2024

    Our program will have a wide range of skill sets and all players who are interested in playing basketball are encouraged to try out.  We will have a Freshman, JV and Varsity team, but we encourage all players to try out for JV and Varsity as we will select the most talented players for these teams first.  All players trying out are required to be registered FamilyID and have a completed physical on file to be eligible. 

    What To Bring:  All players should bring water, basketball sneakers (regular sneakers are acceptable) and we ask all players to wear shorts and a t-shirt for tryouts.  Please also wear a mask for covid protocols while entering the gym and facilities.

    What to Expect:  All players will participate in breakout drills and game play to be evaluated and ranked.  Players will be expected to pay attention and follow directions as well as be ready to work hard as we will do a lot of conditioning drills, well as skills evaluation.

     

    Tryout Times:

    Friday November 15th: 5:30 - 7:30 PM (Check In at 4:45 PM in Room 90)

    Saturday November 16th: 9 - 11:30 AM (Check in at 8:45 AM in the Main Gym)

    Team Selections

    All players, regardless of grade, will try out for JV and Varsity and player selections will be made at the conclusion of our tryouts and all selected players will be announced on our team page Monday evening post tryouts.  All freshman who are not selected to either JV or Varisty will be invited back for a freshman team tryout which will be announced following the main tryout dates.   We will only cut freshman players if there are more then 13 players trying out.

     

    FamilyID / Registration

     

    All players are required to register for tryouts on FamilyID and upload a copy of their physical to be eligible for tryouts.  Click Here to Register

     

    All athletes need a sports physical dated after June 1, but this can be completed by any authorized medical examiner. It is not mandatory to get them at school. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact the Athletic Department at 610-622-7000 ext. 2428.

    Please be sure the PIAA CIPEE form is being used when going to the doctor. Also, make sure they DATE, CHECK CLEARED AND SIGN THE FORM!
