Upper Darby School District Board of School Directors

  • The Upper Darby School District is governed by a nine-member School Board of Directors.  The Board is a legislative body of residents who are elected to office, reside in the Upper Darby School District, and serve the District for an average term of four (4) years.  School Board Directors are elected at municipal elections on odd-numbered years to serve four-year terms beginning on the first Monday in December following the election.  The Superintendent of Schools serves as a tenth member of the Board as a non-voting member.

School Board members are your neighbors and are public servants who make decisions that affect all students.  Board members are volunteers and have a deep desire to serve children, a strong belief in the value of public education and a deep professional respect for the District staff who serve our children and their families every day.  Serving as a School Board Director requires many dedicated hours of service to our community.  School Board Directors do not receive any compensation. You can find the Board member profiles under the Board Members section of the Upper Darby School District website.

    • Set a vision and goals for the District
    • Adopt policies that give the District administration direction to set priorities and achieve its goals
