What is the Keystone Exam?
-
Pennsylvania State Keystone Testing is a series of standardized assessments designed to measure students' proficiency in key subjects required for high school graduation. Administered to students in grades 9 through 11, the tests cover subjects such as English Literature, Algebra I, and Biology. The Keystone Exams are a critical component of Pennsylvania's educational system, as they serve not only as a graduation requirement but also as a tool to evaluate the effectiveness of schools and identify areas in need of improvement. Students must demonstrate proficiency by scoring at least proficient or advanced on these exams, although there are alternatives for meeting graduation requirements for those who do not pass. The exams are part of the state's efforts to ensure that students are meeting state academic standards and are prepared for post-secondary education or the workforce. For more information about Keystone Exams visit the Pennsylvania Department of Education's website.
