Dr. Daniel G. Nerelli is the Director of Human Resources for the Upper Darby School District. Before his appointment, Dr. Nerelli served over 5 ½ years as superintendent of schools for Chichester School District, 2 years as superintendent for Upper Darby School District, and seven years as assistant superintendent for personnel.
He also spent four years as an assistant principal in the Lower Merion School District as well as seven years in Upper Darby School District as a high school assistant principal. Overall, Dr. Nerelli has 27 years of experience in public education. In addition to his responsibilities as Director of Human Resources, Dr. Nerelli has been an adjunct professor at Immaculata University and Saint Joseph’s University where he has taught human resources courses in their education leadership programs.
Dr. Nerelli believes that the role of the human resources department is to support and empower the organization's most valuable asset, the people, by fostering a positive work environment and promoting a culture of inclusivity, growth, and excellence.
Educationally, Dr. Nerelli received a bachelor’s degree from West Chester University. Additionally, he has obtained two master’s degrees, one in educational leadership from Widener University and a second degree in human resources development from Villanova University. Dr. Nerelli also received his doctorate from Immaculata University in Educational Leadership. In addition, he belongs to the following professional organizations: National and Pennsylvania School Associations for School Personnel, and the Society for Human Resources Management.
Dr. Nerelli’s interests include sports, exercise, and technology, and he is avid Philadelphia sports, with his two favorite sports being basketball and football. He and his wife Tina have two children, Chase and Ella.
